How does the tuning work?
Introduction
First, the modification is discussed with the customer: what the options are and what the customer's wishes and requirements are. A suitable modification is then recommended (see the performance tables on our website). The customer is informed about the tuning time and warranty conditions.
Order Intake
Then a job sheet is written up with the customer and the vehicle is taken over by the technician.
Check
Next, standard computer diagnostics of the vehicle are performed before the modification (this does not replace a service inspection!).
Reading the Software
Next, the original engine control unit software is read either via the OBD or CAN interface, or directly from the unit via the BDM interface, or from EPROM or FLASH memory (for older vehicles, usually up to model year 2000).
Software Modification
This software is then modified in the development program based on the previous consultation with the customer so that engine life and emission limits are preserved, unless the customer requested an extreme modification during the consultation.
Software Upload
One of the final steps is uploading the software to the engine control unit in a similar way to how it was read.
Final Check
Standard diagnostics and a test drive are performed again before handover to the customer.
Handover
The vehicle is then prepared and handed over to the customer with recommendations on the rules to follow when using an engine with modified software (they do not differ from the manufacturer's recommendations; they are more of a reminder of the basic rules).
The whole procedure takes from 1 to 6 hours. It always depends on the specific vehicle model.
Throughout the wait, the customer has refreshments, magazines, and a TV with DVD available.
