How EcoTuning Works
The most common customer question is: How is that possible?
The explanation is quite simple. We can modify the engine control unit software so that this saving is achieved. Of course, we will not reveal the entire process, but the basic principles include:
- higher torque at low revs
- reduced exhaust gas recirculation
- optimization of the combustion process
- More torque and lower fuel consumption? Yes!
Thanks to the higher torque, the vehicle accelerates better and fuel savings are possible. For example, when accelerating from 0 to 50 km/h in a normal driving style, it takes 9 seconds before the modification and the instant fuel consumption during that time is 10 L / 100 km. After the modification, short-term consumption rises only slightly from 10 to 10.5 L / 100 km, i.e. by 5%, but the acceleration time is significantly reduced from 9 to 7.5 seconds, i.e. by more than 16%. If you calculate the saving, in this case it is exactly 12.5% on every start!
Reducing exhaust gas intake ensures lower fuel consumption!
Another major factor affecting fuel consumption while driving is limiting exhaust gas recirculation back into the engine. In that case, the engine constantly receives fresh air and does not draw in some contaminants through the so-called EGR system. This limitation affects both the performance increase mentioned above and the higher efficiency of the combustion process, thereby reducing fuel consumption by an average of 5% during steady driving.
Overall engine control optimization
Last but not least, some engine maps in the control unit are adjusted for greater efficiency and better driving comfort. Throttle response, for example, improves by about 25%. With our modification, you not only save money, but driving also becomes smoother, livelier, and more enjoyable.
